Champaign Central Music Boosters is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, formed in 1972, to promote the musical education of students in the Central High School music program through moral and financial support; to solicit, collect and otherwise handle and dispose of the same, either directly or by contributions to other agencies, organizations or institutions organized for the same or similar purposes; and to enhance the image of the Central High School music program.

Planned Absence Form

Students need to complete this form for absences from planned rehearsals or performances. Planned absences should be reported at least two weeks in advance.

Alternate Transportation Form

You may request alternate transportation for your child for marching band competitions. Only students participating in school sanctioned events with a direct conflict will be allowed to request alternate transportation TO or FROM the event.It is necessary to complete this form for each individual competition/date that you are requesting alternate transportation for. The DEADLINE to complete this request form is 12:00 p.m. (noon) two days prior to each competition (Thursday).

Marching Maroons Section Leader Form

The only requirement for application is that a candidate should be a returning member of the group (currently a 9th, 10th or 11th grade student).

Cuttime Communication

The Central music program uses system called Cuttime to track student and parent/guardian information for the purposes of communicating important updates to participants.  

Volunteering

Supporting student musicians requires the help of parents, guardians, friends and community members.

The directors and boosters will ask for volunteers to help with events, chaperoning, refreshments, and coordinators from time to time via the Charms email system.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the Instructional Fees

The marching band has a $100 fee per year to participate.  Jazz Bands have a $50 fee.  Individual competitions require fees to enter, including ILMEA solo and ensemble contest.  Scholarships are available through the Boosters for these fees, as well as Summer Camp participation.

  • Which ensembles and groups are part of Central High School curricular classes?

The concert bands, choir, orchestras, and marching band (1/2 semester) are curricular classes that must be scheduled.  Jazz ensembles, winter color guard and other groups are volunteer and audition-based extra-curricular groups.

  • How can I register my child?

High school students must register for curricular classes as part of their class registration process.  Eighth grade students in public and private schools should contact the music program directors or boosters to obtain information about drumline auditions and other audition opportunities for marching and concert bands.
