Congratulations to the Central Wind Symphony
On May 5, the Central HS Wind Symphony presented an outstanding program at the University of Illinois Superstate Band Festival. At the conclusion of the evening our ensemble was named the 2017 Honor Band in Class AA. This marks only the second time for the ensemble to win this designation in Champaign Central’s history, with the last time being in 2002. We are very proud of our students and hope you will join us in congratulating them on this very special award. As Honor Band, our Wind Symphony will receive an invitation to present the final performance in our class at the 2018 Superstate Festival next May.

Summer music camp scholarships
Central Music Boosters provides partial scholarships for qualified students to attend summer music camps. Scholarships are open to any freshman, sophomore, or junior at Central who has participated this past year in one of Central’s music programs and who commits to participating during the 2018-18 school year. Students must apply for the scholarship. Application should include details of the camp they wish to attend, the cost of camp itself (including housing and meals), and an essay explaining how they expect to benefit personally from the camp and how they will in turn benefit Central’s music programs. Applications will be graded according to a number of factors, including performance in class, participation in booster fundraising efforts, and the quality of the written essay. Scholarship awards are expected to be a minimum of $200 and a maximum of 20% of the cost of the camp. Applications are due by February 21.
For more information, download the Summer Music Camp Scholarship application form.
Upcoming fundraisers
With our big trip to Disney World scheduled for Thanksgiving 2017, students will have a limited number of opportunities to raise funds for the trip. Two upcoming fundraisers are the Fannie May chocolate sale (February) and the discount card sale (March). More details will be available soon. If your student account has limited funds, don’t miss out on these opportunities!
